School Board


The general responsibilities of the Consultative School Board are in the following areas: strategic planning; policy development; resource development; institutional advancement; advice and counsel with regard to financial planning, management and reporting; marketing of the school and evaluation of the Council’s goals and activities.

The membership of the Consultative School Board should include the pastor, principal, parents (no more than one-third of the total membership), alumni parents, parishioners, members of the civic and local business community, and area educators. Under Canon Law and Archdiocesan guidelines (see Administrative Handbook for Bylaws), the members advise the administrative team (pastor and principal) and cannot make decisions binding for the parish education program without the approval of the administrative team (A Primer on Educational Governance in the Catholic Church, the CACE/NABE Governance Task Force, NCEA, 1998).


Jill Ashton-Hughes serves as a volunteer for Our Lady of Guadalupe School.  In addition to her work with the School Board, she serves as a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe School PTO.  Jill, a former educator, and her husband live in Hermosa Beach and are the proud parents of their two daughters who attend OLG.  

Kevin Baxter is the Senior Director and Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, where he is responsible for coordinating and implementing the vision for growth for schools from pre-school through high school.  He has been a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe parish since 2012 and is a proud parent in the school community.

April Beuder serves as the Principal of Our Lady of Guadalupe School.  She has extensive experience in Catholic education Preschool-8th grade, including 20 plus years of experience in Early Childhood Religious Education.  She and her husband live in Manhattan Beach where their now college-age children,  Steven, Chris, and Matthew, attended Catholic elementary school.

Stephanie Criona is the owner of State Farm Agency in Torrance.  She serves in several capacities on the behalf of Our Lady of Guadalupe School, including:  Parish Youth Ministry for over 15 years, Virtus Safeguard the Children facilitator and former committee chair, School Campus Minister and Junior High Servant Leadership teacher, is the current PTO president, and has participated in Music Ministry for 13 years.  In addition to Stephanie’s service to OLG, she has been actively involved with The Association of Catholic Student Councils since 1985 as a mentor, trainer, Leadership Conference minister and Conference co-director.  Stephanie is the proud mom to three children, 7th, 1st, and TK grades, at OLG.

Mary Coelho-Wood serves as volunteer for Our Lady of Guadalupe School.  As former high school religion teacher and youth minster, she brings her experience in ministry, volunteer management, fundraising and social media to the School Board.  Mary lives in Redondo with her husband and twin daughters. 

Tiffany Markarian is the Associate Director of Grants Administration and Alumni Relations for the Loyola Marymount University School of Education.  In this role she supports the development and execution of grant proposals and grant-funded projects.  Additionally, she oversees the newly formed School of Education Alumni Association and Alumni Board. Tiffany and her husband live in Hermosa Beach and are the proud parents of their son who attends OLG.  

Bob Stiles serves on the staff at Our Lady of Guadalupe School and is a parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.  He volunteers for various church activities, receptions, celebrations in which additional hands are always needed.  Outside of OLG, Bob has served for many years as a Reservist, part of that on active duty.  Locally, he volunteers with Neighborhood watch in neighboring communities in addition to Hermosa Beach.

Daniel Villa ’69, Our Lady of Guadalupe School alumnus, is the Executive Vice President and General Manager of Inglewood Park Cemetery.  He has worked at the executive level for the Cemetery since 1995.  In addition to his service to the School Board, Daniel has served as Chairman of the OLG Parish Board of Directors and currently serves the Chairman of the Board at St. Mary’s Academy in Inglewood.  He is also a current member of the Executive Board of the Inglewood/Airport Area Chamber of Commerce, the Board of Directors and President of the Cemetery & Mortuary Association of California, as well as the Board of Directors and Secretary of the International Cemetery, Crematory & Funeral Association.
